For Michael Murphy, it all started as a folk-style musician back in the '60s. After a stint (actually a couple) in the US Navy and earning a couple of college degrees, he returned to performing as an acoustic solo artist. After a few years of solo shows, he formed a blues band which became the vehicle for bringing his music to the stage. Though his band(s) gained wide regional popularity over the years and even recorded a few CDs, he never lost his love for the older folk style music. At Traditions Pub, he will return to that first love for an evening of memories and music.

So make your plans to come to Traditions on Saturday, January 11, and spend an early evening with Michael as he winds his way through a tapestry of original songs and some of his favorite older covers. But don't let the "covers" description fool you. Every song Michael covers is most assuredly NOT a copy. He delivers an original edge to everything he plays. In his words, "I think if folks wanted to hear a cover song done note-for-note, they'd bring a radio."

The show starts at 8 PM, but as Michael always says, "The fun starts when you get there!"
